Spring Skincare Must-Haves

Spring is finally here and it’s time to shed the winter blues and feel the sunlight hit your skin. As we leave the colder months behind our skin’s needs begin to shift. Suddenly, your skin isn’t as dry, but now you need to adjust your skincare routine to accommodate for warmer weather and sun exposure. It’s time to give your skincare routine a spring cleaning for the exciting months ahead.

A good cleanser is always a staple in any skincare routine. As the weather starts to get warmer, you may want to look for a lighter cleanser that will help remove oil and sweat.  Antioxidants will be key for keeping your skin hydrated and in balance. For example, a cleanser like the Yeon Lotus Leaf Milky Foam Cleanser works to hydrate and purify your complexion. It’s infused with skin-balancing lotus flower extract and restores moisture for a smoother, more radiant appearance. It also contains cranberry fruit extract which helps exfoliate and boost collagen production. Take on spring with glowing, hydrated skin.

Another option for cleansing is a micellar water like Nau Age Control Micellar Water, which is formulated with Sour Cherry Seed oil and Jojoba Oil. These ingredients help to cleanse, nourish and firm the skin. The formula is lightweight and hydrating but powerful enough to remove even waterproof mascara! Micellar water is a super gentle formula that mimics the look and feel of water, but is packed with tiny particles called micelles. The micelles act like a magnet to  lift dirt and makeup and remove them from your skin. The best part is that micellar water is typically formulated with hydrating ingredients so it can remove impurities without drying out your skin during your cleansing routine. Micellar water can be used alone as a cleanser or can be used post-cleansing to ensure your skin is super clean.

Because the climate during the winter can be harsh, our skin has built up layers of dead skin, environmental toxins and other impurities. It’s time to gently exfoliate the skin to remove the buildup and reveal bright, glowing skin. Consider exfoliating cleansers, masks or scrubs to gently help remove daily skin stressors. Great for all skin types, but be sure to not overdo it! Try adding exfoliation to your routine just a few times per week.

Because the cold tends to dry skin out, a heavier moisturizer is helpful during the winter. But as the season’s change you may want to opt for a lighter moisturizer to keep your skin balanced. Consider a water-gel moisturizer like ANTIPODES Baptise H2O Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel. Treat your skin to pure, natural moisture with this weightless, intensive gel-based formulation. It’s powerfully hydrating without heaviness or oiliness and is easily absorbed. It’s formulated with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and manuka honey.

For an extra boost of moisture, a trendy rosewater toner is an awesome addition to any skincare routine. Sky Organics Organic Rosewater Facial Mist Toner is full of natural anti-inflammatory properties, and instantly soothes redness and balances the skin’s pH. It’s ideal for all skin types and can be used as a toner, makeup setting spray or for an extra boost of hydration whenever you need it.

Even though we should be wearing sunscreen all the time (even in the winter), if you haven’t added SPF to your skincare routine, now is the time to do it! Even on overcast days your skin is still exposed to harmful UV rays. We suggest adding SPF to your regimen in the mornings, and if you’re not a fan of an additional step, look for a moisturizer that also offers SPF protection. Make sure to use at least SPF 30 which is the widely recommended minimum protection against UVA/UVB rays.

Happy Spring!
